Chained Dog Attack

April 22, 2003 TOLEDO OHIO

A brave little girl is recovering in a hospital room after a dog attack. The 2-year-old girl was playing in a backyard when she was mauled by a German Shepherd.

Bailey Sleesman had half her scalp peeled when a dog bit her on the head. She went through almost three hours of surgery and received over one hundred stitches.

She was attacked Easter Sunday when she was playing with two other young girls. The dog was on a chain, little bailey walked over to it, trying to pet it. That's when the dog attacked and bit her.

The owner of the German Shepard surrendered the dog to the dog warden. It will be quarantined for 10 days and then put down.

Bailey will be released from the hospital on Wednesday with plenty of antibiotics to make sure she makes a full recovery. According to the warden, the owner of the German Shephard was cited for not having a license for the dog.
