Pups Ready For A Home After Being Left For Dead: Dogs Were Found Chained To A Radiator

Nov 24, 2004, NEW YORK CITY--A dog and her adorable puppies have plenty to give thanks for this year. A month ago, they were left for dead, but now they're thriving at the North Shore Animal League. They were found in a Bronx home in October, tied to a radiator. They were starving. The mother's ribs were bulging out, and she had stopped lactating because she was so deprived of food and water, she couldn't feed the pups.

The 2-year-old mom and the now 8 week-old puppies have now been nursed back to health, and they're about to be put up for adoption.

The man police believe chained them to the radiator pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty and abandonment charges Wednesday. 53-year-old Michael Laster could face a year behind bars if found guilty of the crimes. A fifth puppy, a male, is still too sick to be sent to a home, but if you're interested in adopting any of the others, give a call to the North Shore Animal League at (516) 883-7575.
